The Castle Hotel

The Castle Hotel, Pevensey Bay....Now!
Here is a recent picture of our local (or one of them). It looks almost derelict. Not how I remember it at all.
Here is a picture of the hotel from my memories.
This is how I remember it. Rose coloured glasses?

What a surprise

We planted a cutting that we got from next door many years ago, and forgot about it. It always seemed a bit pathetic and spindly, but this year we have, at last, reaped the benefit of our patience. What a beautiful sight, and, the best part is, there are more buds to come. I have just found out that it is called Justicia carnea, or Brazilian Plume.
We have managed to do about 8 or 9 cuttings. Fingers crossed!!

What a Shed!!

After a tart up
Shed before being painted
We were determined to get the shed looking better. So we bit the bullet. Jim did the painting, and I rubbed back all the old paint on the wooden part. ! even stained the seat that we put in front. What an industrious pair we were that day.
But, I have to say, it is not the eyesore it used to be. I think Jim feels some of the character has gone. I say it is the derelict look that's gone!!  And, Good Riddance!!

Our latest 'Time away'

Using the Zoom

This is the actual view
When leaving Albury last Tuesday morning, we stopped to take photos. We wanted to try out the zoom, but usually we are too close to things. However, this is the result, and the second picture is how it actually was from the road. Quite impressive!
Relaxing at Mulwala.

The next two days we spent at our usual haunt in Mulwala. The weather  was fine but not too hot, and we enjoyed some good chats and a convivial time, and several dips in the pool.....lovely!
The Sportslander at Moama

Finally, we tried out a new (to us) motel in Moama. What a pleasant surprise. Beautiful gardens, and an oh-so-cool room. Up to our standard of cleanliness too, so we shall be visiting this motel again, next time we are in Moama.
All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable trip.

Lounge and Family room

Jim's bolt-hole. a.k.a. the smoking room.

Back lounge/Dining room

Here is how the rooms look now. We swapped over the 2 rugs...they seemed to fit better, and now the fire has gone, I have a dodgy piece of carpet under it!!  Now, all I need are some new curtains. In Jim's room they are new, but in the back lounge, these are the ones I was given by a next door neighbour, when they were renewing theirs. Many, many years old, and getting quite faded, not to mention the fact that they were never my choice!! Still, they have done good service for a lot of years.
