Project 'Dilys' Update
Just to say that, on receiving another e-mail from Dilys, she hopes to be here for a week beginning the 7th May. She will be staying here, so the chat will be non-stop I am sure. Watch for next bulletin!

Watch this space
Just a note to all of you who have had their ear bent by me rabbiting on about my friend Dilys. Well, she is coming here on her way to New Zealand, where her daughter Claire and family live. Hopefully we shall catch up at the beginning of May, and as she said, I had better get Jim fitted with ear-plugs, as there is bound to be a lot of gossiping and catching up, with 40 odd years of distance to erase.
So watch this space, as I hope my trusty photographer (Jim) will be on top form to record the momentous occasion. I expect my blog to take quite a pounding!!

Sights of The Bay
The Castle Inn..Pevensey Bay. A lovely
old pub, complete with old beams and
open fires. Wonderful on a Sunday
lunch time.
The Old Court House, Pevensey. We had
a guided tour, and learnt all about justice
all those years ago. There were 2 cells
underneath, and 'swinging a cat'
would NOT be easy!
The old Mint House, also in the main street
of Pevensey. It was said that Henry viii
stayed there on his way through to
somewhere. Steeped in history.
The outer walls of Pevensey Castle. The Mint House is just back from here on the right. The Castle is in a state of disrepair, but renovations are undertaken to make sure it doesn't crumble away. This is part Roman, so pretty old.

Alfriston is a lovely old English village, not too far from Pevensey Bay.
Ice cream cones on the front---what bliss !
Mum
Some of you will notice I have added the picture at the top. This is a picture of Mum that I took when I went home to visit them quite a few years ago. We went for a walk along Eastbourne sea-front, where they always had beautiful gardens planted out. These were on the top level, next to the road. Behind Mum is the bandstand, where you could go and sit in a deck-chair and listen to the band playing. This bandstand has been used as a setting in several movies. Behind again is Eastbourne Pier. What a lovely place it was when we were younger, with the arcade, the naughty postcards, and the sweets and candy floss. At the far end was a theatre where you could go and see a variety show, with all the old comedians and singers.....What memories!
But this sort of entertainment would seem far too tame for today's generation. A lot to be said for simplicity I feel!!

The New Dyson
Hooray!! At last....it arrived...The new Dyson. Have waited a while, but as soon as I was able to assemble it...with lots of groans and head-shaking from Jim... I gave the place a good going over. Tiff came home from work, and did their end of the house too. Emptied bucket-loads of dust and dirt, and almost lifted the carpet off the floor, but how wonderful to feel the place was really clean again. So all systems "go" now. It's been a long time coming!!

The Life and Times of Jim!
Yesterday Jim went to the doctor to discuss the results of his scan and ultra-sound. He has been in so much pain over the last 4-5 days....not sleeping, and unable to get comfortable anyhow. He had to walk hunched over too. When the doctor saw the test results, he sent him straight to casualty at the William Angliss Hospital. After endless poking and prodding, and after being seen by several different people, he was admitted, and operated on that night. It was a Hernia, and a huge one, on the site of one he had done about 15 years ago, when techniques weren't so advanced. Anyhow, first thing this morning, he rang me, and Tiff and I drove down to pick him up! So he's home after only 1 night, and feeling extremely pleased with himself. What a relief for us all!!
Sasha and Steve
Had a lovely e-mail from Sasha yesterday. usually we catch up on her birthday, but this was an unexpected surprise, and all the photos she sent were a bonus. So here are a couple of them, for those of you who knew her when she lived here. Now they are living in Canada,,,Steve is Canadian, but they hope to come to Australia (W.A) in the future.

Done and Dusted!
So here it is...all finished, and rapidly filling up with bits and pieces. Shelving inside just has to be finished off, but basically a nice way to use up a lot of old building materials that were just rusting away up the back.
