Here are all the deckchairs arrayed round the bandstand ready to hear the band playing. It was a real tradition, and note all the deckchairs are exactly aligned. People just sat down to hear as much or as little as they wanted...to fill in 10 mins spare, or to take their knitting and make an afternoon's outing of it. This was entertainment back when! Nothing like it now...of course...no one would be satisfied as it isn't sophisticated enough for today's population. What a shame, and how lovely it was then.
